Hey Y'all!
Just wanted to hop on here and let y'all know what has been going on in the
gymnastics world lately. I am leaning away from football at the moment given my
NFL team has not been playing so well lately, currently with a 1-7 record after
week 8. The Atlanta Falcons are my team in case you were wondering. Last week
they played the Los Angeles Rams in Atlanta where they lost 27 to 10. The
Falcons this season have been playing poorly which is sad but at least we
aren't 0-8 at the moment like a few teams left in the NFL. As of today the
Atlanta Falcons organization traded Mohamed Sanu for the Second round draft
pick in 2020 to the Patriots. Was this a smart move? Honestly no but all we can
do is hope they made the right choice.
Now as for gymnastics goes some of you may know that I was a gymnast my entire
life so gymnastics runs through my veins whether I like it or not. About two
weeks ago in Stuggart, Germany from October 3 to the 13th the World Artistic
Gymnastics Championship took place. Where the United States sent six gymnasts;
Simone Biles, Jade Carey, Kara Eaker, Sunisa Lee, Grace McCallum, and alternate
Mykayla Skinner.
The United States team took Gold over the other countries where they excelled
in every aspect but the team winning Gold wasn't the highlight of the
competition it was Ms. Simone Biles. Biles won gold medals in the balance beam,
floor exercise, Vault, individual All- around and Team Gold. She ended up
walking away from Worlds wearing herself 5 Gold Medals bringing her total count
to 25 World Medals. This makes her the most decorated gymnast in world
championship history. From a recent article published by The New York Times
Biles stated that she couldn't be prouder of her performance during the worlds
championship.
Something that shocked not only the whole world but herself was when the score
to her balance beam routine popped up. Biles jumped from her seat with
excitement because this event has been far more challenging then any others. In
the past she has always fallen short of Gold and received Bronze but not this
time, the Gold medal was finally hers. "This really is my best worlds
performance I have ever put out, Biles said." May be the most
impressive? Simone now has 19 Golds out of her 25 and 5 were just earned in the
past week. Biles now has a medal for every year she has been alive as well as
the next 3 to come. Biles now has a handful of skills named after her that only
she has competed on a world stage. Biles career is far from over and we can't
wait to see what she will accomplish at the 2020 Olympic Games come August.
